Moving from Alondra 1.x to Alondra 2.0 and Alondra Plus
Alondra 2.0 is free, and the premium features now come in a separate add-on, Alondra Plus. If you use the paid Alondra 1.x plugin (shown in your Plugins list as Alondra Pro), this guide moves your store across. Your pricing groups, prices, rules and settings stay where they are: nothing is exported or imported.
It takes about fifteen minutes. Read it once before you start.
Before you start
- This is for the paid Alondra 1.x plugin (the one you downloaded from your Freemius account; it lives in the
alondra-profolder). If you use the free Alondra from WordPress.org, you do not need this guide: Alondra 2.0 arrives as a normal plugin update. - Your 1.x license does not activate Alondra Plus. Instead, we give you a coupon with a 100% discount on the equivalent Alondra Plus plan. You apply it at checkout, so you pay nothing.
- You need an administrator account on the site (one that can install and activate plugins).
- Back up your database first, with your host's backup tool or your usual backup plugin. Your pricing lives in the database, and a backup lets you undo any mistake.
Step 1: Open a support request
Log in to the Customer Area with the email you bought Alondra with, and go to Support.
- Under Select product, choose Alondra.
- Pick a subject. Billing Issue > Other works.
- Fill in the form and describe your request in the Description field. For example: "Support request for migrating to Alondra Plus add-on".
- If you have more than one site, list the URL of each site in the Description field.
- Click Submit.
You can also reach us from the support page.
Step 2: Receive your coupon and the add-on ZIP
We review your request and reply by email with:
- a coupon with a 100% discount for the Alondra Plus plan that matches your current one, and
- the Alondra Plus ZIP, attached and ready to install in WordPress.
Keep that email: you need both in the next steps.
Step 3: Deactivate Alondra 1.x
In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins, find Alondra Pro and click Deactivate.
Your store shows no tiered prices until you activate Alondra 2.0 in the next step, so do steps 3 to 5 in one go, ideally at a quiet hour.
Step 4: Install and activate Alondra
- Go to Plugins > Add Plugin and search for Alondra.
- Click Install Now on Alondra by MidriNet.
- Click Activate.
Alondra 2.0 is the free plugin from WordPress.org. It installs in its own alondra folder and reads the same pricing groups and settings as before. Check one product page: the prices table should be back.
Step 5: Upload and activate Alondra Plus
- Go to Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin.
- Choose the Alondra Plus ZIP from the email and click Install Now.
- Click Activate Plugin.
Alondra Plus installs in its own alondra-plus folder. Keep Alondra and Alondra Plus both active: Alondra Plus works on top of the free plugin.
Step 6: Skip the license prompt and go to "Get Alondra Plus"
After you activate Alondra Plus, WordPress asks for a license key. Ignore this page: you do not have a key yet.
Go to Settings > Alondra and click the Get Alondra Plus link.
Step 7: Apply your coupon at checkout
A checkout page opens.
- Type your coupon in the coupon field on the right and click Apply. The total drops to the discounted price.
- Fill in the billing information the page asks for.
- Click Review Order to complete the purchase.
When the order is complete, you are sent back to your WordPress admin automatically. Wait while it finishes processing.
Step 8: Check your license
Your new license details, including the license key, arrive by email.
If Alondra Plus asks for the key in your WordPress admin, enter it and click Activate License. If you closed the page, open Settings > Alondra > License & Account and click Activate license.
Step 9: Delete Alondra 1.x
Delete the old Alondra 1.x plugin to finish the migration. First, make sure your pricing data is safe.
- Go to Settings > Alondra.
- Find Uninstall cleanup. It must be unchecked. If it is checked, uncheck it and click Save Changes.
If Uninstall cleanup is on when you delete Alondra 1.x, WordPress wipes your pricing groups, prices and rules. Alondra 2.0 uses the same data, so you lose it too. Make sure the box is unchecked and saved before you continue.
- Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins, find Alondra Pro and click Delete.
- Confirm the message. Because Uninstall cleanup is off, only the old plugin's files are removed, and your pricing groups and settings stay.
That's it: the migration is complete. Open a product page and the cart to check your prices, and Settings > Alondra to check your layout and colours.
What carries over
Everything you set up in 1.x:
- Every pricing group, with its tiers (fixed and percentage), rules, priority and ALL/ANY and AND/OR choices.
- Groups in draft or in the trash.
- Your settings: the prices table's layout (table, pills or list), its position, colours, "Disable styles", live price update, total after the prices, "Show as discount", "Replace default price", caching and "Uninstall cleanup".
- Product Bundles pricing, if you use WooCommerce Product Bundles.
What changes until the license is active
Between step 4 and the end of step 8, and later whenever your Alondra Plus license expires, the store works exactly like the free Alondra plugin:
- When several pricing groups match the same product, the one created first wins (priorities are ignored).
- Rules match without the ALL/ANY and AND/OR choices: a product needs one of the listed categories and one of the listed tags, and a rule that lists both products or terms and users or roles needs both to match.
- The prices table shows as a table, above the "Add to Cart" button or hidden, with the default colours. Live price update, the total, "Show as discount" and "Disable styles" are off.
- Percentage tiers stop applying: the quantities they cover sell at the regular price. Fixed-price tiers keep working.
- Bundles are not priced by Alondra.
None of this changes your configuration. Your premium settings and rules are kept, and they come back as soon as the license is active again.
If something looks wrong
"Alondra 2.0 cannot run while Alondra 1.x is active": you activated Alondra 2.0 before deactivating Alondra 1.x. Alondra 2.0 waits and does nothing until Alondra 1.x is off, so nothing is broken. Deactivate Alondra 1.x (step 3) and Alondra 2.0 starts working.
"Alondra Plus needs Alondra 2.0.0 or greater, and Alondra ... is installed": the active Alondra is older than 2.0 (for example the free 1.x from WordPress.org). Alondra Plus waits until it is updated. Update Alondra to 2.0 from Plugins or Dashboard > Updates.
Alondra Plus cannot be activated: WordPress requires WooCommerce and Alondra 2.0 to be active first. Activate them, then Alondra Plus.
Prices or settings look like the free plugin: the Alondra Plus license is not active yet. Open Settings > Alondra > License & Account and activate it with the key from your email.
Something else: stop there and ask us (below). If the store has to be back to how it was right away, restore the backup you made before you started.
